 AIM has an opening for Special Education Coordinator to support the special education director with all administrative duties. 
 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 
-  Delivering Professional Development. 
-  Providing teacher and paraprofessional support. 
-  ARD procedures. 
-  Knowledge of education of special education students. 
-  Understanding and development of PLAAFP and IEP goals and objectives. 
-  Understanding of the federal law I.D.E.A. 
-  Knowledge of curriculum; and state assessment. 
 Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-  Knowledgeable and skilled with working with special education programming. 
 RESPONSIBILITIES: 
-  Communicate with school staff and families regularly regarding student's progress or needs 
-  Maintain students' confidentiality 
-  Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment 
-  Maintain current knowledge of Special Education law (as it pertains to Behavior Management)
-  Maintain electronic eligibility and on-site folders in a manner consistent with TEA and Wayside 
-  Network requirements; Ensure the confidentiality of information regarding special education 
-  Overseeing/managing a caseload of special education students and the implementation of their IEP plans in inclusive, self-contained,, and pull-out settings. 
-  Know campus data regarding the state assessment, benchmarks, and available interventions. 
-  Attend ARD Committee meetings and provide follow-up to special education placements including planning and implementation of ARD Committee decisions. 
-  Serve as liaison between parents, teachers, counselors, nurses, outside agencies, and various campus departments. 
-  Serve as conflict mediator/problem solver in crisis situations concerning instructional programs, placement, and behaviors of students. 
-  Perform special education audits and gather State Performance Plan data to submit to TEA. 
-  Be fully informed of staff and position management, student cases, classroom, and equipment need. 
-  Demonstrate proficiency with Frontline. 
-  Demonstrate high ability to communicate orally and in writing. 
-  Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. 
-  Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards. 
-  Effectively communicating to parents and guardians the special education process including the process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPs/504 plans, and re-evaluations as well as parental rights granted by IDEA. 
-  Providing training and technical assistance to case managers, teachers, related service providers, and support service professionals on all aspects of cases management: use of computer systems for the special education process, writing of goal writing, progress reports, annual reviews,, and parent communication. 
-  Discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators 
-  Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify. 
 WORKING CONDITIONS 
-  Maintain emotional control under stress. 
-  Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. 
-  Regular District-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, heavy lifting, and moderate carrying. 
-  May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. 
-  Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
