Title: Senior Firmware Engineer

Duration: Full-time

Pay Rate: $230k - $260k

Insight Global is hiring for a Senior Firmware Engineer for a Full-Time position to sit on-site at a Semiconductor Startup client in Santa Clara, CA.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. Define Development Environment:

• Establish state-of-the-art firmware development environment, including compilers, build, and source code control tools.

1. Design and Development:

• Design, develop, and test C/C++ based functions in pre-silicon verification environments, including hardware emulation platforms, through chip bring-up.

1. Performance and Telemetry:

• Define and implement efficient methodologies to extract key performance indicators and telemetry for various PHY operating modes.

1. API Interfaces:

• Develop customer-facing API interfaces for PHY and controller products.

1. Quality Assurance:

• Define and support the implementation of a flexible firmware QA infrastructure for automated regressions of pre-silicon, emulation, and post-silicon test plans.

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company to deliver customer-ready products.

1. Team Leadership:

• Interview and attract technically strong engineers to support various functions of firmware deployment.

1. Debug and Bring-Up:

• Work with analog and digital teams during design and post-silicon bring-up phases for day 1 end-to-end path bring-up/debug.

1. Project Management:

• Develop plans and track progress to maintain aggressive development and deployment timelines.

1. Documentation and Reviews:

• Own firmware architecture definition documentation and schedule cross-functional reviews.

1. Infrastructure Ownership:

• Full ownership of firmware, API, and customer-specific debug GUI infrastructure.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must Have's:
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum eight years’ experience leading and delivering production-quality firmware on SerDes/IO/PHY products.
• Strong technical foundation and experience with analog, DSP, and controller products.
• Proven track record leading small teams in a startup-like environment to successful delivery of products into production.
• Full understanding of established and emerging design methodologies and flows.
• Knowledge of DRAM Controllers, DRAM PHYs, HBM Memory is a plus.
