Will perform assigned plumbing duties as an Amentum employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center worksite. Plumbing Apprentice as assigned. Plumbing experience required. Must have a High School Diploma or GED or 5 years of relevant work experience. Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge. Must provide certified Birth Certificate, Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire. Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and written. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License (REAL ID) and obtain and maintain a current Texas Plumbers Apprentice License. Must pass Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test. Must pass Asbestos physical and be able to wear a respirator as needed. Perform work as directed by Plumber Journeyman and/or Supervisor or Manager. Ensure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner, keeping work areas clean and ready for customers. Apprenticeship tasks include identification of pipe/fittings, threading standard 1” NPT to code, figuring travel between pipes using 45°/90° ells, sweating, brazing, solvent socket weld piping to code, cutting cast iron and installing MJ, flaring 3/8” copper tubing, using Oxy-Gas torch, sizing piping of fixtures for various systems, and preferably welding/soldering as needed. Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs, dexterity for operating equipment, and good physical condition for climbing in tight areas. Prior knowledge of NASA site and experience with government installations preferred.
