The Director of Public Health for the Town of Sylvan Springs is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating all public health services and programs for the town. This leadership role ensures the health and well-being of the community through strategic planning, policy development, public health education, and regulatory enforcement. The Director works in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure compliance with public health laws and implementation of best practices.
Develop and implement public health strategies, policies, and programs aligned with local and state health regulations.
Oversee environmental health, disease prevention, epidemiology, maternal and child health, and community wellness initiatives.
Respond to public health emergencies, including outbreaks, natural disasters, and environmental hazards.
Direct public health staff and oversee operations including budgeting, staffing, training, and program evaluation.
Serve as the chief spokesperson for public health issues in Sylvan Springs, representing the town in media, public forums, and governmental meetings.
Coordinate with healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, and government entities to address health disparities and promote community well-being.
Ensure accurate collection and reporting of public health data to inform decision-making and policy development.
Promote health education and disease prevention through community outreach and engagement programs.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations and standards.
Advise elected officials and town leadership on public health concerns and policy decisions.
Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Health Administration, or a related field is required; a Doctorate in Public Health or related discipline is preferred.
A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in public health, including supervisory and administrative roles.
Strong knowledge of epidemiology, health promotion, emergency preparedness, and public health law.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, health professionals, and community members.
Certification in Public Health (CPH) or eligibility is a plus.
Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend hours as required during public health emergencies or community events.
Work is performed in both office settings and field environments.
Must be able to travel locally and regionally for meetings, inspections, and outreach.
